Sun Safety

Summer is just around the corner, here are some ideas that you can implement into your child’s ideas to keep them safe from the sun!

  • Apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater on any exposed skin. Reapply every couple of hours, but more often if your child is swimming or sweating.
  • Keep babies 6 months or younger out of the direct sun to keep them from getting overheated or sunburnt. If there are any small areas exposed, it is okay to use a little bit of sunscreen.
  • The sun is at it’s brightest between 10 AM and 3 PM, these are the hours of the day to avoid being outside in the sun!
  • Wear light linen clothing, hats, and rash guards to also protect children’s skin from the sun.

Just one blistering sunburn on can increase the risk of melanoma later in life. Use these tips to stay safe while having fun this summer!
